Keira Knightley in Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015--2015 Academy Awards
What a SHOCKER! Keira Knightley--Chanel Spokesperson that she is--did NOT, and I repeat--DID NOT, wear Chanel. She did that already at a Chanel pre-Oscars Party (I'm assuming that since Chanel had Julianne locked-in to wear a custom gown, they let Keira off the hook). So, instead, she wore Valentino Haute Couture for the 2015 Academy Awards. The gown is from the Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015 collection that was just shown last month in Paris Couture Fashion week. The collection was inspired by love, Shakespeare, the French painter Chagall and featured dresses with the words of Dante's Inferno hand embroidered on them.
This particular gown has a linen corset top and layers and layers of silk tulle for the skirt. The dress has silk and leather flowers hand appliqued onto the gown as well as delicate needlepoint embroideries. Her hair and soft makeup look so pretty by the way (love the delicate headband).
The shape--slightly Empire-waist--is nice for the pregnant Keira and I also admire the fact that the gown is inspired by LOVE. Keira looks like a Romantic Shakespearean heroine running through the Tuscany fields trying to find her love. While many of you (I can hear you now!) may suggest this might be a bit on the costumey side, I disagree. I think it Boho Romantic and so NOW!
What do you guys think? Yay or Nay?
