WHO WORE WHAT?.....Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2015: The Doyenne Divas!

Betsy Bloomingdale: American socialite and philanthropist Betsy Bloomingdale (who looks fabulous at 92!) attended the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in this beautiful red silk gazar gown. Ms. Bloomingdale is known for wearing Couture and is a big Couture client so I would LOVE to know who the designer of this gown is so if there's anyone out there who might know this: tell me! It's very vintage Oscar de la Renta-meets-Givenchy (the REAL Hubert de Givenchy!). Whoever designed this, it's beautiful.

Joan Collins: Joan "Dynasty" Collins attended the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in a black gown with gold and red sequined applique. She looked every bit a DIVA in this gown. I also loved the gathered and slightly pouf'ed up cap of her sleeves--giving a "hint" to her 80's "Dynasty" shoulder padded days. She looked fabulous. Of course. Doyenne Chic.

Jane Fonda: Jane "Jealous of my body" Fonda looked AMAZING in this Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015 sequined gown at the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. I said so HERE. I. Love. Her. Some women her age just "give up" when it comes to fashion and especially at big events such as this. But gotta love Miss Jane, she can compete with the youngumms!! And Beat them at their Red Carpet game!

WHO WORE WHAT?.....Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party 2015: Heidi Klum in Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2015

Heidi Klum in Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2015--2015 Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party

Heidi Klum attended last night's 2015 Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party wearing a silver sequined with see-through paneled gown from Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2015 collection. The gown featured a side draped cowl top section attached to a column skirt section. Notice that on the runway--on Brazilian supermodel Isabeli Fontana--the see-through panels/sequined section in the front is much thinner and more "exposing". On Heidi, those front sections were done to cover her more. I think that was a wise design move.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2015: Trend Alert! See Through Dresses

Trend Alert: See Through Ladies

Besides Gigi Hadid and Irina Shayk, several other ladies wore see-through dresses to the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and here we have...

Rita Ora in a black matte jersey and black see-through chiffon gown from Donna Karan Atelier. Donna Karan Atelier is the more "Custom/Couture" arm of the brand, only for stars and for the red carpet. In other words, don't bother finding any of these dresses at any Donna Karan store, online, or wherever.

Rita Ora in Donna Karan Atelier--2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party--As you can see from above, you've got to be BOLD, BRAVE and be cool with going underwear-less to pull off this style of a gown. I like the front but I admit that the back is TASTELESS and too Tacky-Hoochie (since when is seeing half your butt chic??!!)

Lily Collins in Zuhair Murad Spring 2015 Ready To Wear--2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party--Lily does See Through much better (and tasteful) than Rita did. Here, Collins wears a black sequined gown from Zuhair Murad (yes, him AGAIN!! I told you his atelier and press department were busy!) Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear. I love the hint of tuxedo with the satin lapels. It's modern, a bit Victor/Victoria and still glam enough for a Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

Malin Akerman--2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party--Malin also did the See-Through trend wearing this black lace sequined gown with a plunging neckline and under-bodysuit.

Kelly Lynch--2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party--Kelly Lynch combined satin and see-through in the style she wore at the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party seen above. The style is a bit of a mish-mash; there is a bubble mini skirt under an over dress in panel like shapes, there's pockets, then there's a spiderweb-like lace top...and a black bikini bra top under it all. Not sure about it all.

What do you guys think?

Who did See Through Trend better?

WHO WORE WHAT?.....Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2015: Irina Shayk in Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2015

Irina Shayk in Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2015--2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Another design house that was VERY busy last night--and all this past week!--was the House of Versace. They flew in an entire team of seamstresses and tailors to help accommodate all the fittings and all the actresses and supermodels who would be wearing their $50,000+ couture frocks for the Academy Awards and Oscars parties. Russian Supermodel and Cristiano Ronaldo's ex, Irina Shayk, wore a very sexy and revealing gown from Atelier Verscae Spring/Summer 2015 at the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscars Viewing Party.

Sans Panties: The gown features a black silk cady overdress with attached black sequined bodysuit underneath. I have NO IDEA how one gets into this style of a gown (a side or back zip??) but I am sure those Italian seamstresses/tailors/pattern makers figured it out. The gown is completely hand made and every single crystal is also sewn on by hand. Oh, and yes, you cannot wear underwear with this gown.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2015: Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad Ready-to-Wear Spring 2015

Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad Spring 2015 Ready To Wear--2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Sofia Vergara wore a lilac sequined gown from Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad (that atelier was BUSYYYYYY!!!) and his Ready-to-Wear Spring 2015 collection. Originally--in the designer's Look Book, the gown had straps and was unlined. For Sofia, the straps were removed and made into a strapless gown and a matching color lining was added. I think she looked great and this was a very pretty gown. It was obviously made for her and her size and fit her quite nice.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2015: Jane Fonda in Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015

Jane Fonda in Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring 2015--2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Diva-licious. Oh Jane Fonda. I ADORE you! 77 year-old Hollywood (and workout) Legend Jane Fonda gave women half her age a run for their COUTURE money as she attended last night's 2015 Vanity Fair Oscars Viewing Party. Fonda wore this beautiful sequined Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015 jumpsuit. The jumpsuit--as shown on the runway model was not lined but on Jane--the Lebanese designer's atelier added a creme/nude strapless lining dress underneath--for modesty of course. Jane's hair and makeup were perfection and age appropriate...

And take a close-up look at all those hand-sewn sequins, crystals and paillettes...INCREDIBLE craftsmanship on this Couture gown. Oh, and yes, I also LOVE that ring!

WHO WORE WHAT?.....Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2015: Gigi Hadid in Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2015

Gigi Hadid in Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2015--2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

"Celebrity" Supermodel--and SUPERgirl of the Moment, Gigi Hadid attended the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Viewing Party in a black gown from Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2015 collection. The gown was worn on the runway by another Supermodel--the one and only Amber Valletta. The silk cady black column gown features curved lines (a theme of that collection) and tansparent illusion insets. It's completely sewn by hand, since it's Atelier Versace, the Haute Couture arm of the brand.

Gigi's hair and makeup were model perfect. Of course.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2015: Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring 2015

Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015--2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Leave it to La Lopez to do an OUTFIT CHANGE for the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscars Viewing Party. So...as you know, for the actual Academy Awards, Jennifer Lopez wore this gorgeous nude/blush Elie Saab Haute Couture ball gown with plunging neckline and hand-sewn crystals. I loved it! And then for the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscars party, she changed into a nude column gown from another Lebanese couturier--Zuhair Murad. It was from the Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015 collection, which I said HERE looked like it was ALL from J Lo's closet. So, it wasn't a surprise that she would wear something from that collection.

The gown features thousands upon thousands of crystals all hand-sewn onto a transparent netting base. Notice that on the runway model, the top portion was not lined yet Miss J Lo wore breast pads to cover and prevent any "wardrobe malfunction". She also copied the model by wearing nude panties as well. I though Jennifer Lopez looked every bit a star and a Diva as she always does. And leave it to Lopez to add even more DRAMA with the addition of the fur stole. Fabulosa Part Dos.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....87th Annual Academy Awards: Keira Knightley in Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015

Keira Knightley in Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015--2015 Academy Awards

What a SHOCKER! Keira Knightley--Chanel Spokesperson that she is--did NOT, and I repeat--DID NOT, wear Chanel. She did that already at a Chanel pre-Oscars Party (I'm assuming that since Chanel had Julianne locked-in to wear a custom gown, they let Keira off the hook). So, instead, she wore Valentino Haute Couture for the 2015 Academy Awards.  The gown is from the Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2015 collection that was just shown last month in Paris Couture Fashion week. The collection was inspired by love, Shakespeare, the French painter Chagall and featured dresses with the words of Dante's Inferno hand embroidered on them.

This particular gown has a linen corset top and layers and layers of silk tulle for the skirt. The dress has silk and leather flowers hand appliqued onto the gown as well as delicate needlepoint embroideries. Her hair and soft makeup look so pretty by the way (love the delicate headband).

The shape--slightly Empire-waist--is nice for the pregnant Keira and I also admire the fact that the gown is inspired by LOVE. Keira looks like a Romantic Shakespearean heroine running through the Tuscany fields trying to find her love. While many of you (I can hear you now!) may suggest this might be a bit on the costumey side, I disagree. I think it Boho Romantic and so NOW!

What do you guys think? Yay or Nay?

WHO WORE WHAT?.....87th Annual Academy Awards: Lady Gaga in Custom Azzedine Alaïa

Lady Gaga in Custom Azzedine Alaïa--2015 Academy Awards

Lady Gaga made quite the entrance (and I think in a good way!) at the 2015 Academy Awards red carpet in a Custom Azzedine Alaia gown. This is the first time--that we know of--that an Azzedine Alaia gown has been worn on the red carpet at such a high profile event--or so Lady Gaga and other commentators have said. I'm sure, however, there have been many a French actress who have probably worn Alaia at Cannes or other events. We just don't know about it.

She accessorized the gown with red leather gloves, which I think was a great decision, especially standing out against the stark white sequined backdrop of the gown. Yes, the gloves are a bit Cra-Cra, but it's Lady Gaga after all!

I love this gown and I love Alaia...I've always been a fan of his designs and his non-conformist ways of showing his collections; he showed his Spring 2015 in Paris waaaay after the actual Paris Fashion week and after the buyers and editors had left the city. #GottaLuvHim.

Here are a couple of looks from his Spring 2015 collection. Notice the slightly jutting-out armholes on these designs--reminiscent of the exaggerated Lady Gaga version...

WHO WORE WHAT?.....87th Annual Academy Awards: Gwyneth Paltrow in Custom Ralph & Russo

Gwyneth Paltrow in Custom Ralph & Russo--2015 Academy Awards

Gwyneth Paltrow decided to revisit the color PINK at the Academy Awards, but this time in a much softer shade--as opposed to her iconic Ralph Lauren moment back at the 71st Academy Awards in 1999. This time, she wore a one shoulder and one sleeved column silk crepe gown with an organza rose petal-like shoulder detail from the British design house of Ralph & Russo.

The gown is based on a similar style, shape and color of a gown from their Spring 2015 collection (see photo above). I think it's a very elegant gown and she looks quite Upper Class beautiful in this. I'm sure there will be lots of organza rose petal haters but I don't mind it. It's very 80's James Galanos-meets-Valentino-meets-Oscar de la Renta. In other words: I like it!

Ralph & Russo are headed by Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo and are the only British based designers to be allowed to show at Paris Haute Couture Fashion week. They are known for very elaborate, very expensive creations sought after by celebrities and royals. Angelina Jolie commissioned them to create outfits for various film premieres as well as humanitarian events. Beyonce wore their designs for The Mrs Carter Show World Tour.

Oh and yes, I need to say something about THOSE earrings. One word: Wow!

WHO WORE WHAT?.....87th Annual Academy Awards: Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab Fall/Winter 2014 Haute Couture

Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab Fall/Winter 2014 Haute Couture--2015 Academy Awards

Oh Jennifer! leave to to Miss J Lo to SHUT IT DOWN! Now THIS IS AN OSCARS GOWN, thank you very much! It's what Felicity Jones should have worn (maybe without the plunging neckline). But then again, I don't think that Jones would have been able to pull it off. Now, Jennifer Lopez does ('cause her momma done taught her right!). And if I was an actress within a 20 foot radius of her, I would have run for the theater for fear that I would have looked like her poor cousin. Lopez is wearing Elie Saab Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2014. It's a STUNNING all hand made tulle and silk organza ball gown with hand sewn sequins. It features, of course...

A very J Lo plunging neckline.

Get it gurl! La Fabulosa Jennifer Lopez in her $150,000 Elie Saab Haute Couture Fall/Winter gown--2015 Academy Awards

WHO WORE WHAT?.....87th Annual Academy Awards: Emma Stone in Custom Elie Saab Couture

Emma Stone in Custom Elie Saab Haute Couture: Based off of a dress from his recent Spring/Summer 2015 Haute Couture Collection--2015 Academy Awards

Emma Stone wore a mossy/almost chartreuse green sequined Custom Elie Saab Haute Couture gown. The gown is based off a dress from his recent Spring/Summer 2015 Haute Couture Collection. The high boatneck gown features panels of sequined tulle hand-cut and hand sequin onto a silk tulle base layer. It also has a side front slit and long sleeves. The dress took hundreds of hours to make, of course and would retail in the $100,000+ range for those of you who might be interested. I think the color and style look beautiful on Emma...

I also loved her hair and soft, delicate makeup.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....87th Annual Academy Awards: Julianne Moore in Custom Chanel Haute Couture

Julianne Moore in Custom Chanel Haute Couture--2015 Academy Awards

Academy Awards Best Actress Nominee (and probable winner) Julianne Moore did not wear Tom Ford at the Oscars (quelle surprise!), but instead wore a Custom Chanel Haute Couture gown designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Excuse me if I am wrong but isn't Custom and Haute Couture (almost) the same thing? Or at least, very close. And if a Chanel Haute Couture gown can cost in the $100,000+ range, then what would a CUSTOM Chanel Haute Couture one cost? Well, for Julianne Moore, it was free.

Now, back to the gown: the strapless style featured a column shape with small train in the back; it was completely hand done and hand sequined, accented by several rows of silk organza and black paillette Chanel camellias.

Julianne looked quite pretty and need I add, will look perfect winning her Oscar in this marvelous Couture creation.

What do you guys think?

WHO WORE WHAT?.....87th Annual Academy Awards: Rosamund Pike in Custom Givenchy

Rosamund Pike in Custom Givenchy--2015 Academy Awards

Rosamund Pike chose a lipstick red applique re-embroidered strapless gown custom made by Givenchy and designer Riccardo Tisci for the 87th Academy Awards.

The gown featured a column shape, satin ribbon waistband and silk satin midriff as well as a center front slit. I think she looked quite Va-Va-Voom glam in this and I especially liked her hair and makeup...

This is quite a pretty gown but once again, it has NOTHING to do with the House of Givenchy (now) and the collections being put out by its Creative Director Riccardo Tisci. So, once again, another example of a brand making custom gowns for A-List actors that have nothing (or little) to do with what the brand and the collections look like. #ScratchingMyHead
